Join the Project!

RR_Market_Hall_Information_Session_Flyer_V2.jpg

Many Rockwood residents have indicated an interest in becoming a business tenant in Rockwood Rising! Now, join us for our first informational session to learn all about what "becoming a tenant" really means. Developer Roy Kim will answer questions regarding project timeline, application process, and what to expect as a tenant in the project. Partners from the City of Gresham, Gresham Redevelopment Commission, and nonprofit partners at Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon (MESO) will also be there to answer questions and provide services to Gresham's emerging small businesses.

The Rockwood Rising Project is committed to transparency, diversity, and placing a high value on community voices at every stage of development, and this includes tenant recruitment. All interested business owners and potential business owners are encouraged to apply.

Join us at the Sunrise Center Thursday, September 12th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with your small business (or business idea!) and see how to join in Rockwood’s future!

Be A Part of Rockwood History

Construction is underway at the Downtown Rockwood location and we are ready to pour the foundation!

RKm would like to extend an invitation for you to become a part of history and sign part of the building. In doing so, you will become a permanent part of Downtown Rockwood!

History happens August 21st from 3:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at the south side of the site (18535 SE Stark). We will have refreshments, along with information on what’s to come at Downtown Rockwood (and a lot of sharpies!).

Ground has Broken, Construction has Begun!

Rockwood Rising project staff and partners at RKm Development would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to all attendees of the groundbreaking ceremony June 12, 2019. The celebration was an enormous success, thanks to the support of our partner organizations, elected officials, and Rockwood community members.

The ceremony itself saw over 200 people in attendance, despite the high temperatures of the day. Attendees gathered under the shade of large canopies to hear from several of Rockwood’s key figures. Executive Director Josh Fuhrer hosted the ceremony, having directed the Rockwood Rising Project since its inception in 2013.

Several other prominent figures also spoke in celebration of the project, which has garnered widespread community support. Speakers included Mayor Shane Bemis, Senator Laurie Monnes-Anderson, County Commissioner Lori Stegmann, Developer Roy Kim, and others.

With groundbreaking complete, construction has officially begun on the project site with an anticipated completion date in 2020. Stay updated with the progress of construction by watching the hour-by-hour time lapse!

Rockwood T-Shirts Return

After the great success of our Rock the Block neighborhood celebration, we heard dozens of neighborhood comments regarding the Rockwood t-shirts. These t-shirts were created through a collaborative process with Grafletics, Inc., the Urban Renewal Staff, and input given by Rockwood community members like you.

Now, in celebration of groundbreaking for the Rockwood Rising project, Grafletics will be offering Rockwood-logo t-shirts for a limited time following the June 12 groundbreaking ceremony! This line of Rockwood-logo shirts will be available only until June 30, 2019, and for each item purchased Grafletics will donate one free shirt to a student at The Boys and Girls Club in Rockwood.

GRDC Approval of Construction Documents

Rockwood Rising project documents, including permitting, Land Development Agreements (LDAs) and Ground Leases, were all approved by the Gresham Redevelopment Commission (GRDC) on June 19th, 2018. This is a significant milestone for the project, as execution of these documents means that RKm Development will be able to begin work on the site.

For the full transcript and recording of the June 19th GRDC meeting, including the approval of the Rockwood Rising Documents, visit the City of Gresham's website here.

Negotiations are now in the works to secure the final financing for the project, after which a date will be announced for the project's groundbreaking. Construction of the entire Catalyst Site is anticipated to be complete in 2020.

Since the Plaza del Sol will be unavailable for the remainder of Rockwood Rising construction, Rockwood Rising staff has elected to move the playground equipment currently located there. Burnside Baptist Church at 18311 E Burnside has generously agreed to house the play structure for the duration of Rockwood Rising construction.

The new location is about two blocks north and two blocks west of the Plaza del Sol
